Yard work
Nothing says "I love you" like some yard work.
For the last few weekends, I have been saying we needed to get some stuff done outside. But we've been traveling hither and yon and never had any time until today.
And being the cool wife that I am, I took it upon myself to do the work today. Josh stayed inside with his fantasy football prep and listened for Jack while he was napping. I went all Handy Andy on the house.
There was a leaf blower involved and I am proud to tell you that we no longer have any leaves in our yard. I use the term "yard" loosely, however, as we have a patio and a little walkway and rocks. No grass.
But living on a busy street, we get a lot of crap in the sub-ground level yard and the leaves accumulate in the corners and it looks kind of ghetto. The planter boxes on the front of the house were full of dead flowers and stringy vines.
So I sucked up all the leaves. And I pulled all the dead flowers out of the boxes. And then I emptied all the pots that we had flowers in. And then I sucked up all the leaves in the back of the house and hosed down the siding and cleaned the back porch. And then I disconnected the hose and drained it and put it away.
And I wasn't done yet. I also swept the porch and changed the lightbulbs on the front porch lights and then I built a small dwelling out of sticks and mud with sod for a roof. Afterward, I canned some fruit and churned my own butter.
OK not so much the last things. But I could have. I was on a roll.
